Dr. Holub & Rep Tonko

Dr. Richard Holub (right) and Congressman Paul Tonko (left) discuss Alzheimer's research and care.

Congressman Paul Tonko has a deep interest in Alzheimer's disease research and in the care of Alzheimer's patients and along with Representative Brett Guthrie has introduced the Alzheimer's Accountability Act to Congress, which is bipartisan legislation with over 180 cosponsors. The bill would require the NIH to develop and submit a "professional judgement budget" giving Congress additional information as to the resources needed to fund a cure for Alzheimer's disease. He also served on the Bipartisan Congressional Task Force on Alzheimer's disease. Congressman Tonko is a cosponsor of the HOPE for Alzheimer's Disease Act, which would increase Medicare coverage for Alzheimer's related services, including diagnosis and care planning.
